Wood carving of Saint Damien with a red tunic and cape, squat hat and a book in his right hand. His left hand would hold an attribute. S. Damien practiced medicine out of compassion, without pay, and was persecuted by Diocletian and martyred circa 300 AC. He is not usually portrayed in the Indo-Portuguese iconography.
