SMALL CHEST Ebony and Brass Ceylon or Batavia, circa 1670-1720 40,5 x 27,5 x 21 cm Ebony chest decorated with a symmetrical carved pattern of large stylized oriental flowers and foliage. Furniture decorated with this type of carving both in ivory and in wood is typical of Ceylon, the Coromandel Coast and Batavia and usually described as Dutch Colonial. |
