SAINT GEORGE Wood with polychromy and iron Indo-Portuguese, Goa or Cochin, 17th/18th century H 75 cm In the round sculpture of Saint George following the standard iconography of the Saint as a Roman soldier, fighting the dragon, the symbol of evil. The saint is dressed in a red tunic and “roman” boots and helmet. He holds a sward in an aggressive posture despite his sweet juvenile expression. |
